Jewellery photgraphy using a Cannon Power shot S5IS?

I want to take some decent pictures of my wife's line of jewelery and post them on her web site using my Cannon Power Shot S5IS. Can someone suggest some camera settings and the type of lighting that would help me take decent pictures. Also, would they recommend some sort of light box etc. Remember I am not a camera buff so keep it simple.
